The Male Pattern membawa balada piano ini bukan buat mengharukan, tapi buat cerita perampokan yang berakhir kacau balau gara-gara karakternya sok keren pengen ngutip dialog Dark Knight Rises. “Charlie (The Robbery)” itu fiksi gelap yang sengaja dibuat absurd, bukan drama serius.

Lirik “I tried to say a line from The Dark Knight Rises, when Charlie made his move, I blew him half way across the room” jadi puncak ironi lagu ini, momen paling gawat malah dipicu keinginan tampil dramatis kayak film action. Dan Daniel Bateman (Frog) memberi nuansa balada yang serius, kontras total sama isi ceritanya yang penuh kekonyolan berdarah.

“Sha la la” yang diselipkan di antara adegan penuh kekerasan itu jenis humor hitam yang khas, seolah menertawakan situasi paling serius dengan nada paling santai.

The Male Pattern jelas tidak berusaha bikin pendengarnya bersimpati ke karakter ini, malah sengaja membiarkan kebodohannya terasa lucu sekaligus menyeramkan.
