Ia menderu sejak awal, seperti mesin mobil tua yang dipanaskan subuh-subuh. Gitar elektriknya tebal dan siap menyerang. Drum memukul dengan otoritas penuh. Vokalnya serak, bertenaga, dan tak kenal rem. Ada kehangatan yang padat dan basah, seperti ruangan sesak yang dindingnya mulai berkeringat. Kita dipaksa memutar knop volume sampai kabin bergetar dan kepala ikut mengangguk. Denyutnya classic rock, tapi ujungnya masih cukup tajam untuk telinga hari ini.
Namun karena begitu akrab, ia jarang mengejutkan. Reff-nya terasa seperti sudah pernah kita dengar di radio rock sejak zaman kaset (saya sempat menunggu jembatan berisi “uuu” panjang dan satu celetukan namanya sendiri itu berubah jadi sesuatu, ternyata memang cuma itu).
“Do I look like a B-Side?”, tanyanya ke orang-orang yang mau menumpang tenar. Kurang ajar, dan lucu.
Belum terkenal, katamu, mas Tom. Tapi pembukuan Not Famous Yet sudah rapi.
