Please Tell Me lahir dari satu hal yang kejam, kata North Ghost, yaitu dunia yang terus berjalan ketika orang yang kita sayangi berhenti di tempat karena duka. Mirip warung di depan rumah duka yang tetap buka, karena hidup orang lain tidak ikut berhenti.

Unit pop-punk dari pesisir Irlandia Utara ini dulu membuat kita melompat lewat STALLONE, lagu soal semangat pantang menyerah. Lagu dari EP debut mereka, Everything Worth Keeping, ini datang dengan langkah yang jauh lebih berat.

Ceritanya disusun dari kepingan. Telepon yang membawa kabar terburuk lalu sinyalnya putus, foto di dinding tempat seseorang yang sudah pergi masih menari, dan seorang perempuan yang terus memanggil namanya berbulan-bulan. Siapa mereka bagi si narator tak pernah disebut. Tidak perlu.

Gitar ritmik membuka, lalu drum penuh dan vokal latar menyusul menebalkan emosinya. Di bagian kedua, instrumen melunak dan memberi ruang bagi vokal. Ada ledakan terakhir ketika semuanya berpadu di titik paling keras, sebelum ia memudar bersama vokal yang ikut melambat. Pelan.
