Semua orang punya satu kawan yang membalas “otw” padahal baru bangun tidur.

Mopey Hope menulis lagu untuk kawan semacam itu, dalam versi yang lebih serius. Weight of Your Word adalah sindiran untuk tipe manusia fasih-bicara-jarang-muncul, yang lantang soal prinsip tapi menghilang begitu bagian susahnya tiba. Trio asal Aarhus, negeri dongeng Andersen, ini membawakannya dengan wajah riang.

Gitarnya renyah dan ketukan drum yang rapat berderap cepat, lincah, nyaris mengajak berlari. Tiap instrumen diberi ruang bernapas tanpa saling sikut, dan racikannya terasa organik, dimainkan sepenuhnya dengan tangan, dengan akar americana dan sedikit debu grunge. Vokalnya justru tenang, desah napasnya dibiarkan terdengar. Ada ketenangan yang ganjil di tengah derap secepat itu.

Kita dibuat mengangguk-angguk sambil disindir.

Semakin ke ujung, sindirannya makin tajam. “Your word does not carry weight,” nyanyi mereka berulang-ulang. Kalimatnya pendek, dan memang tidak butuh bantuan.

Saya tidak tahu siapa yang mereka maksud, tapi rasanya kita semua kenal satu.

Trio ini sedang menggarap album. Kalau janji itu ditepati, Weight of Your Word baru pemanasan.
