Avall – Leave Me

Desiran ombak dan ketukan elektronik yang mengambang membuka Leave Me, bersama vokal Avall masuk ditemani drum elektrik yang minimalis.

Menjelang pre-chorus temponya merapat, dan begitu chorus pertama tiba, bas yang berat dan perkusi penuh menyerbu bersamaan, cukup untuk membuat kita menoleh ke pengeras suara. Jarak antara bait yang tenang dan chorus yang padat dibiarkan lebar, dan ia mengisi jarak itu dengan harmoni vokal latar. Ada rasa sinematik yang muncul tanpa dibuat-buat, entah dari mana.

Avall menulis single ini di tahun terakhir kuliah (merchandise-nya bahkan disebar di sudut-sudut Los Angeles), dan takut sekaligus bebasnya masa itu terdengar di sepanjang lirik. Kuncinya ada di dua baris yang hampir kembar.

Di paruh pertama, “I love this place” disambung “I hate this phase”. Di paruh kedua, sambungannya berbelok jadi “I won’t forget this phase”. Kita diajak menyaksikan seseorang yang masih gelisah tapi berhenti membenci fase yang sedang dijalaninya. Yang bikin geregetan cuma deretan kata kerja di reff, “to burn to feel to kill to find”, yang terlalu ingin terdengar besar.

Leave Me yang dibuka desiran ombak ditutup dengan dua kata yang sama dengan judulnya.
